The hosts made a great welcome. They are uncomplicated and open. The neighborhood is very nice for people who likes Brooklyn and or people who want to make a great experience in Brooklyn. By subway it takes you only 35 min to Manhattan. We enjoyed!

The apartment itself is very clean and spacious. There isn't a television in the home which should have been explicitly stated in the description. The neighborhood is less than ideal. Not only is it a 20 minute walk to the subway, but the first thing our host told us when we m…

Réponse de Teedo :
Hi Nicholas, Sorry your weren't happy with the apartment, or us as hosts. There were a few things in your review that were incorrect however... 1) to say that I said your girlfriend shouldn't walk around alone at night is not true. I told both of you not to walk around in the direction of the projects (should I advise you to set out in that direction on your first day and hang out in the projects in New York City?) and for her not to walk on Marcus Garvey late at night by herself and to favor Lewis Ave. Which she would be fine if she did walk down Marcus Garvey, but it's just better to walk down Lewis. Less of a chance of someone saying "hey baby I like the way you walk" or trying to strike up a conversation. I never said flat out "don't walk around by yourself at night". 2) Until just yesterday (when I changed it before reading your review) our description has ALWAYS said that there is NO TV. Both in the description and in the list of the amenities. We even said in the description "No TV yet - do you come to NYC to watch TV?" For the past 5 years it has said there is no TV here. Otherwise, how would you have known to bring your own??? You showed up on the first day with a 40" TV, which I then purchased from you. Since there is a new TV in apartment now (yours ha ha), I just updated the listing to reflect same and have made it clear it only works if guests bring a firestick or plug their laptop into it and that they have to supply any necessary cables. And I left the TV crossed out in the amenities section until I get it up and running regularly (so guests don't need to bring a firestick/use their laptop) so that when guests search by amenities our place won't show up as a place with a TV. It's only in the description now, as a sort of heads up. We never ever listed that the place had a TV until I changed it just yesterday and now I see this negative review. 3) The only reason I mentioned the recycling was b/c you guys kept getting it wrong and I had to go through it and redo it. It's really not that hard to figure out. But no matter how many times I explained, you guys kept putting plastic bags in with the cans & bottles and paper milk/juice cartons in with the cans and bottles and other wet/dirty items that should not go in the recycling. NYC recycling laws are very specific and we've gotten $100 tickets from guests not paying attention to the city's recycling laws. Which are available online, on stickers on the side of the bins we provide, and which you guys were not doing. My recommendations to you in the future are: 1) pay CLOSE attention to the descriptions hosts put up on their listings before you book the apartment, 2) use a map a little bit before you book a place, see how close it is to the subway or transportation (and by the way it's not 20 minutes to the subway unless you're walking at a snail's pace...I get there in 12 minutes...and my next door neighbor boasts she can do it in 8!). But again, tell us where in our description it says it's a 7 minute walk to the subway station and we'll change it to 12! 3) Get to know your neighborhood once you arrive. Did you try any of the places we list in our description. If not, it's a shame. Seraghina, Eugene & Co, Peaches Hot House, regular Peaches on Lewis, Chez Oscar, L'Antagonist (to name a few) are all great places to eat/drink and meet new friends. So is LunAtico as well as having amazing jazz/blues/world music every night for free. Lover's Rock/Bed-Vyne Cocktail & Bed-Vyne Brew/Casablanca are pretty much full fledged discoteques Thurs-Saturday. Williamsburg is a $5~10 Lyft ride or you could have rented citi bikes or taken a bus easily. Just ask the hosts next time for advice on how to get around quickly/easily. Or do some research before you book. 4) Ask the hosts questions during and especially before you book a reservation and let them know what's important to you. Often we tell guests this apartment is not a good match for them because of the things they say are important to them. We have no qualms about doing so because this place is booked year round. My mistake was not talking to you more before booking you, which I usually do, but we had a cancellation b/c another guests' company had some personnel rearrangements. So I was kind of left high and dry and booked you a little too hastily. But if you had mentioned you needed a TV, I would have directed you to re-read our description and listing of amenities which definitely never included a TV. But you said the place was perfect for you. So I figured you had read our description/house rules/looked at our pics and map. All of which have zero misrepresentations in them. Although I think your review (the first negative one we've ever received) is inaccurate and thus, unfair, it's good to have one negative one up here. It makes all the other positive reviews all the more believable! Thanks for staying with us and sorry we didn't meet your expectations. Teedo The Putnam
