Centrally located on highway 170 at Terlingua Creek, Aranda House is easy to get to and does not require off road driving. The entrance to Big Bend National Park is ten minutes away to the east and Terlingua Ghostown is ten minutes to the west. Lajitas and the visitor center at Big Bend Ranch State Park are just twenty minutes further on to the west. It is within minutes of river outfitters, horse, jeep and guided tour providers.

The house is 1000 sq ft and has coded front entry. The access code is messaged to you 3 days before check-in so there are no keys to pick up and you can check in at any time of the night.
The kitchen is fully equipped with 5 burner gas stove, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee and espresso makers, pots and pans, dishes and utensils, refrigerator and freezer and dining area.
The bathroom has full bath /shower. Please note there is only one bathroom.
All rooms except the bathroom are air conditioned. The living room has a fireplace with easy chairs and is very comfortable. The patio has a picnic table, a great BBQ grill and out door fire ring. The internet speed is good and there is good cell and WiFi signal. The coffee table can be converted to a computer work station by raising the top and there is a house phone that can be used for local calls.
There is NO television so if you want to watch something bring a laptop with a streaming app. or dvd player.
There are three bedrooms. The two main bedrooms have queen size beds and the smaller bedroom has 2 single beds.
There is also an unlisted bed in the linen closet which can sleep an extra person, this space is small but private, has lighting and an electric outlet.

There is a room on the east side of the building which is not available to guests. It is just a store room and there is no one in it.

There is no room service. If you require cleaning services and linen changes during your stay please contact me. The fee is $50.
The desert is windy and the desert is dusty. Aranda House has been cleaned and mopped the morning of your arrival. However it will quickly become dusty if the doors are left open for any length of time during your stay.
There is only ONE bathroom. The bathroom stands alone and does not have to be accessed through a bedroom. The hot water heater holds 40 gallons and it takes about 20 minutes to re-heat.
Aranda House is on the electric grid and community water system. Our area is subject to occasional power / water outages and pressure or voltage drops that are beyond our control. There is no back up generator and there will be no refund for these events.
The stove is propane. In the event of a power outage you will still be able to cook and heat water.
Please take into consideration that Aranda House accepts children, dogs and large groups of people. It is comfortable but not fancy.
It is on the side of Hwy 170 which is the main east / west road from the National Park to all points west. It can be busy at certain times of the year. It is not a remote or isolated location, there are other business entities around and about.
Aranda House is in a low spot and does not have spectacular desert views. Please look at satellite imagery of the location before booking if possible.
There is no wheel chair access and it is not suitable for the elderly, infirm or for use by commercial mini-tour operators.
The following issues have been bought up by previous guests.
There is no television.
There is only 1 bathroom.
There is no light over the bathroom vanity.
There are not enough electric outlets and they are not conveniently located.
The proximity to the highway makes having a "quiet desert experience" challenging.
It got dusty.

- Events or parties not to exceed 12 persons total and must not become rowdy or involve excessive amounts of alcohol. Premises must be left with no trace of event or party as having taken place. No fireworks or fire arms.
- Outdoor fire permitted only when county burn ban is not in effect and must be contained within the existing fire pit. Expanding the fire pit is not allowed. Fire must be thoroughly doused with water when no longer watched.
Note: The adjacent large building is the county EMS, Fire Dept and Sheriff Station.
-The premises are not child proof. Some electric outlets are at floor level, the front door opens to a sometimes busy road and the back yard goes down to a creek with permanent water pools. There are no special facilities or equipment for infants. Children are welcome but must be monitored at all times.
Dogs are welcome but must not be left unattended in the house and the enclosed back yard will not prevent a determined dog from escaping. They are not permitted on trails in the National Park and there are no kennels in Terlingua. Please contact me if you need dog sitting services.

The house is cute, clean, well-maintained and just as described. Also had easy access to both the state park and Big Bend national Park. Patricia was very responsive and helpful throughout the process.

Great location to get the the park and also to Terlingua! Everything you need in the kitchen. The house is very comfortable. You’ll be happy with this rental!

The views here are fantastic - although slightly obstructed with other buildings. Sunrise is particularly gorgeous. Perfect location to the park, grocery store, and restaurants. We also found it easily despite coming in way after dark. The home is particularly close to the county's emergency response building. Although I saw fire trucks and ambulances there, I did not hear any alarms or sirens throughout our stay. Honestly, having it that close put me at ease because this was my first trip with my infant daughter to a rural area. Highly recommend!

If you are looking for a private place to stay right outside Big Ben National Park with great views and easy access to everything this is a great place to stay. The house is comfortable and we enjoyed staying with Patricia.

Convenient location close to the park and restaurants and offering privacy, without being so remote that you cannot access anything. Great wifi, clean house, and really great air conditioning, which is welcomed this time of year! We enjoyed our stay here!

Nice, comfortable house. Right on 170, so great location for convenient access to park, Stude Butte, and Terlingua. Patricia is very helpful and communicative.
