The Barn is up a long private woodland track, in the Surrey Hills.

We feel like we are in the middle of nowhere, yet we are only a couple of miles from the centre of Haslemere.

Whether you are getting married later on in 2020 (or indeed 2021!), are looking for great walks, visiting friends or relatives, or just want to escape it all, we really hope you will love this place as much as we do.

Le logement
The Barn is about 20 metres from the host’s house and is accessible via a stone path from the host's driveway. It is quiet, peaceful and completely self-contained.

There is a lovely open-plan sitting room into which we have installed a kitchen, so if you don't want to go out you can prepare your own meal, then relax and enjoy the views over our pond and garden. Or just chill out in front of the TV ... There is also a DVD player and we have put together a selection of DVD's and board games which we hope you will enjoy.

We use Bedroom 1 for bookings of UP TO TWO paying guests. It has a double bed and a newly refurbished en-suite (December 2019) with white towels and complementary toiletries. PLEASE NOTE: There is a supplement of £35 for bookings of two people or less who wish to make use of Bedroom 2 and the 2nd bathroom as well.

Bedroom 2, has french doors leading onto the Barn's private garden. It is a lovely room, very spacious, with a king-size bed and its own TV. We have recently installed a 2nd bathroom into the Barn which is immediately adjacent to Bedroom 2.

There is a mezzanine area above Bedroom 2 with 3 single beds.

Accès des voyageurs
COVID-19 - We have recently signed up to the new cleaning regime recommended by Airbnb. This requires us to leave the Barn empty for 3 hours before we start cleaning after a guest departs. To give us enough time therefore to do a thorough clean and to sanitise the building between guests and ensure everyone's safety we have adjusted our check-in and check-out hours till the pandemic is over. Therefore for the foreseeable future we request that guests check in from 4:30 p.m. and check out by 10:30 a.m.

We have also been taking advantage of some enforced time off to make the Barn as separate to our house as possible. There is an automatic hand-sanitising unit at the entrance to the Barn and we would respectively request that guests sanitise their hands EACH time they enter the Barn. There is also a lockbox to the side of our property where you can pick up the keys when you arrive and we have updated our manual inside the Barn. We have also printed out some of our favourite walks for you to enjoy. The driveway is still shared but there is plenty of space for everyone!

GARDEN - Guests have sole use of a private lawned area of garden to the left and rear of the Barn (photographed with table and chairs) which we have recently fenced off so children can play freely away from the pond. There are also 2 swings. This is for the exclusive use of our guests. The rest of the garden is used primarily by our family particularly at weekends and during the holidays.

WASHING MACHINE - There is NO washing machine and tumble dryer in the Barn but we are very happy to do the odd load or two for our guests. We charge £5 for each load of washing which includes tumble-drying and washing liquid/softener.

Autres remarques
And mull over ...

BRIDES - We have put together a wedding package for brides who wish to stay the night before their wedding (one of our brides was kind enough to share the photographs of the start of her special day so please do have a look! Photography by Katy at Gingersnaps photography.)

Our package costs £75 and includes the following:

- hosting additional guests: hairdressers, photographers, make up artists, wedding cars, additional friends and family (whomever you wish to have onsite) as you get ready for the wedding.
- use of the Barn (and our beautiful grounds) for photos and videos;
- continental breakfast and refreshments for your entourage so you can all arrive at the church calm and relaxed.
- the Host to remain on site for the duration of the morning to help as and when required.
- an extended checkout (till 12:30 p.m.) so you can drive straight from the Barn to your wedding;

PHOTOSHOOTS/FILMING - Please ask for details.

SPA FACILITIES - If you fancy a Spa Day, Afternoon Tea or just a gym/swim, we have negotiated some great discounts with a neighbouring Restaurant and Spa, a 10 minute walk away. These are exclusively for our guests during their stay at the Barn.

We live in a magical setting but it does have its own quirks.

POND - There is a large pond immediately outside the Barn so we are not comfortable hosting children between 2 and 9 unless they are supervised AT ALL TIMES by a responsible adult. There is a fenced off area to the side of the Barn with swings where children can play safely away from the pond.

DRIVEWAY - We are up a long private drive, surrounded by fields so it is truly peaceful. Our track (it is not a made up road) does develop pot-holes throughout the year and although we try to keep on top of them please be aware of these before you book! And please follow the directions given by the host as some guests' SatNavs have been taking them to the wrong property.

ANIMALS - We have a young English pointer dog (Spring) on the property. He is a delightful little chap, lovely with children and generally obedient but we would be very grateful if you could avoid letting him into the Barn. Please also keep the gates closed to the drive at all times so he doesn’t escape. There are also three cats, horses and sheep, all of whom (even the sheep) are very sociable.

MUD - Pretty as the countryside around us is, it gets pretty muddy in the winter so please bring appropriate footwear.

HEATING - The heating system is run by LPG which is a very costly form of heating. We pre-set the thermostats so it is comfortable for our guests but we would be very grateful if you could keep the windows closed when the heating is on and not adjust the radiators and the thermostat.

RULES - Finally, please make sure you are comfortable with our rules before you book.

Haslemere , Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

The Barn has direct access to a bridleway which leads in one direction to Blackdown (owned by the National Trust) and the many walks and trails of the South Downs National Park. In the other direction it leads directly to Haslemere. A brisk walking pace will take you into Haslemere High Street with its wide range of cafés, shops and pubs in about 25 minutes.

We are surrounded by wildlife. You may see deer as you drive up the track or if you are driving up late at night you may accidentally chase a badger (believe it or not, they can move pretty quickly). There are also buzzards and owls and a red kite is often seen flying above the fields.

Immediately adjoining our property there is a small RSPB site which you are welcome to explore.

There is an OS Map for you to use during your stay and we are very happy to recommend our favourite walks ... as well as local pubs and restaurants as and when they start to open again.

We should add that although we are within walking distance of Haslemere, this is most definitely the countryside and it gets VERY muddy in the winter. If you have welly or walking boots, please bring them!

If you prefer shopping, Guildford and Chichester are within a comfortable driving distance.
