I will not be on my Boat during Your Stay, but I am available to give You a 20-30 minute tour of Historic Old Town Key West, also I will be bringing You out to my Boat in the afternoon when You arrive and at night to sleep, also I will pick You up on the morning if You want to explore Key West by bicycle, car, scooter or walking. There is a Water Taxi available if You wish to go back and forth more than I provide. Also I can take You out Sailing if You are able bodied and You make a contribution for gas and my time.
My Boat must Be Smoke Free as there is a lot of fine old hardwood s on board that could ignite in a minute. There are Fire Extinguishers, of course, but for Your Own Safety, please observe my No Smoking Rule.
The showers, bathrooms (Gents and Ladies) are ashore, there is a marine head (read toilet) on board for your use if You need it. I can show You how to operate the marine head properly, the head (toilet) does not stink if You use the right procedures.
I have recently had a couple of bad reviews due to my potential guests misunderstanding what I am offering. I am offering a very sanitary antique (1979) Classic American Sailing Vessel , a Cape Dory 28, for my Guests to Sleep on in privacy with Clean Sheets and Towels, and the use of locked, air conditioned showers/bathrooms ashore (I do require a $25 deposit per key for the Ladies and Gents Bathrooms).
My Boat is about a 10 minute dinghy ride from Key West Old Town where the action is, fine restaurants, music, dancing, museums and some of the best preserved architecture from the late 1800s and the early 20th Century.
I am Not offering a modern luxury Yacht with air conditioning, flush toilets, full baths, unlimited electrical power, etc. for which You would pay $1K + per night in Key West.
My Boat is an elegant camping situation, But You are still camping and She does Rock a Bit during the day, and ever so gently at night. This is not a good situation for older people who are not in very good shape physically, because You might fall overboard after a few stiff drinks, and I might not be there to pull you out and you may have misplaced your life jacket.
You must also be capable of getting off of a rocking dinghy on to a rocking Sailboat. However, for people in good health who can swim a bit and who are not afraid of Ocean waves or getting wet, my Boat is an Ideal Adventure. And living aboard a well built Sailboat in Key West is a Wonderful Experience You will never Forget. You will learn a Great Deal about Mother Nature and another Way of Life, the Salt Life that very few people Know about.
