Welcome to Mermaid's Nest! Our newly remodeled guest suite is bright and cheery, and decorated in a casual, boho-beach style, with original art, and a cozy electric fireplace. Of course we welcome guests from all backgrounds, and well behaved pets on approval. We want you to experience what we do here - everyday life in vacation mode. Every season of the year is magical on the Oregon Coast. Consider a winter retreat as well as a summer getaway. You can't go wrong!
This is a great quiet couples getaway, with room for one child or adult on the sofa (with 4-inch foam pad and real bedding) Small (clean, house broken, well behaved) dogs are welcome, on approval.
There's a real kitchen, equipped with granite countertops, a full size refrigerator, oven/glass top range, microwave, dishwasher, cookware, dishes, and small appliances. Coffee, tea, spices, and some condiments are here for you. And you're welcome to pinch leaves from the small herb garden outside your door. The bathroom has a shower/tub, and a small washer/dryer for your use.
Accès des voyageurs
The rental is in the front of the house, with its own entrance. We live in the back unit of the duplex, so we're on hand if you need anything, and out of sight if you'd don't. Guests have their own patio and lawn area in front. There's guest parking for up to 2 cars in the driveway.

We live in the back unit, and are on-site for anything you might need, while still respecting your privacy. If you bring your dog, please don't leave it unattended in the house or yard. Talk to us about pet sitting for an additional fee.
Please note, we're licensed by the city for no more than 3 people, and value our own quiet space as much as we respect yours and our neighbors'. This is not a party house. It's a quiet getaway for couples and small families. For everyone's comfort, smoking (including vaping) is not allowed anywhere on the property.
We welcome guests of all racial, religious, political, sexual, and dietary backgrounds and leanings. Because we're vegan, we're particularly sensitive to the needs of our vegan and vegetarian guests, and encourage you to let us know of any special needs.
We enjoy a relaxed, beach-loving lifestyle, which means we don't invent unnecessary chores for ourselves. While you can expect a fresh, clean place to stay here with us, you can also expect slightly wrinkled (but clean!) sheets and other bedding. Wrinkled sheets mean more time on the beach! We do provide a clothing steamer for your use, and if you need an iron, I think we have one here someplace. :o)
We do not allow guns on the property.
- Check-in time is usually around 3PM. Later times in the afternoon or evening can be arranged. If you expect a late night arrival, please check with us before you book. We need to know what time you expect to arrive, so we can be here to welcome you. Prompt communication regarding delays is essential. Once we agree on a check-in time, we will be there. Please be considerate of the fact that this is our home, not a hotel.
- Quiet Hours from 10PM to 8AM
- Please check with us before booking with children. The house is NOT baby proof, and while we can move some things, it might not be the best place for toddlers.
- Only well behaved (clean, house broken) small to medium sized dogs allowed. (small dogs are easy to bathe in the kitchen sink. :o)
- Dogs cannot be left unattended in the house.
- No shoes in the house preferred.
- This is a non-smoking (and vaping) property.
- This is a firearm-free home. Guns are absolutely not welcome here.
Hi! We're Rick and Kim. In our 25+ years together, we've combined families, raised 3 great kids, moved from Nevada to Seattle to Taos, NM, to Portland, and now Seaside, OR.
Self employed entrepreneurs for most of that time, we've owned a gourmet pizza shop, run a glass art jewelry business, and gone on to create a vegan food blog, as well as a cookbook and a coloring book. Now we're inn keepers, and we love it!
For years we'd go to the beach whenever we could, stay until we absolutely had to go home, and always ask ourselves, "Why don't we live here???" Now we do! And we're so happy to have the type of space that allows us to share it with family, friends, and Airbnb guests.
Things we love? Beach walks, backyard birds, good books, friendly cafes, a nice glass of wine, vegan food (but we're not preachy ;o), our little dog, Heidi, knitting (yep, both of us), and good times spent with people we love.
As your hosts, it's important to us to provide all we can think of to make your stay as comfortable, relaxing, and homey as possible.
Our home is a small duplex, and the guest space is its own 500 square foot apartment with a separate entrance. We're on-site and available for as much or as little as you need. While we enjoy getting to know our guests a bit, we also respect your privacy. We're very good at fading into the background, and resurfacing to answer questions or help in any way we can.
Our life motto? Follow your heart, and play nice. Everything else seems to work itself out.
