Autres remarques

The apartment is located on the ground floor level of the magnificent Barn House, which was restored and renovated with a blend of modern and antique fittings by Jack Clemmons in the 1990's. It is lined with windows overlooking the Adirondacks and meadows. The two upper levels of the building contain a gallery of African American and African art and modern photography. Occasional cultural events, including Ethiopian/Eritrean coffee ceremonies and an African American literature program, are held on the upper levels- offering a unique opportunity for guests to learn more about African American heritage. By staying with us, you are helping to preserve one of the largest African American-owned historic farms in the state of Vermont and a stunning property!

What a joy to have met the Clemmons family and experience 2 nights in the beautiful 2 bedroom apartment! There is ample room, beautiful African American art , flowers on the table and food in the refrigerator! Traveling is so much more memorable when you meet fine people along the way and have experiences that make your heart sing!

It is hard not to admire the Clemmons family. They were cultural pioneers here in Vermont, and a talent for creating welcoming, vibrant communities is evidently a family trait. Even though Lydia was abroad for most of my visit, she was unfailingly available to me by phone, and attended (though a proxy) to my every question and need. She is a wonderful, generous host, and the decor of the place--elegant and warm; immaculate and charming--reflects her personal spirit. I ate meals in the spacious kitchen, slept comfortably, and woke up each morning to a view of a beautiful Vermont meadow. The Clemmons Family place has everything going for it, and you can't find a more quintessentially picturesque Vermont town than Charlotte.

Not the right fit for our family but would be a nice play to stay for someone who is interested in participating in the farm's activities throughout the weekend. We have family in Burlington and booked this Airbnb primarily for a place to sleep at night. Lydia was very warm in welcoming us with local Vermont goodies and was very communicative before our stay to see if we had any interest in any special dinners/events. The farm's history was impressive and we enjoyed all of the carefully curated art throughout the apartment. However, we did not feel like we had any privacy - despite the listing stating it was an "entire house". The host was very involved, checking in frequently and stopping by unannounced. The apartment is actually the bottom floor of a barn (the top floor is a museum) but there is no door for privacy between the upstairs and the downstairs. It was loud both mornings due to people walking around the museum upstairs. Also, it's important to note that although this space is made for four guests (a king and a queen bed) you will be substantially charged for additional guests above and beyond two people. Overall, we would recommend this space for a day trip to learn about the farm's history and art but not an overnight stay.

We warmly encourage guests who enjoy multicultural experiences and who are interested in learning about African American heritage and art to stay with us. We really enjoy greeting our guests in person and finding out if there is anything we can do to help make their stay more enjoyable. The privacy and comfort of our guests are very important to us, and so we are grateful for the feedback from our very first AirBnB guest. Our only regret is that we did not have the pleasure of meeting our guest during her stay with us. Meanwhile, our elegant apartment has 2 bedrooms, a private bath, a sunny, private sitting room and dining room and 3 private entrances- please check out the many photos! During your online booking, you will see that our rate is $35 for each additional person over the first 2 guests. We look forward to your visit to the Farm and will do everything we can to help you feel special and welcome!
