Just constructed (Aug '17) ~ we welcome you to a unique new tiny house. Arriving, you cross a pedestrian bridge, pass through the huge outdoor deck, and enter a space with tons of light, high ceilings, a Murphy bed, full bathroom and (unfortunately) no kitchen until October, although main house kitchen is available. Walkable, green, central area.

It's within a 5-unit co-housing community~ we each have our own private homes but often share meals, the garden and good company.

Le logement

The tiny house has space on all sides and sky above, with one quiet co-resident below who enters completely separately.

We have a floor bed available, and we actually often have another bedroom available in the main house- ask us if you're interested.

Accès des voyageurs

You're welcome to use the main kitchen or other amenities.

Parking? SORT OF. We can always offer a spot for ~5 minutes for you or a guest. Sometimes we can offer a full spot for the whole time, which we charge $25 per calendar day for (3 days/2 nights - $75). And rarely, we can't offer a full spot, and either we'd block you in, or you'd block us in. So please ASK if you need parking.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

Fyi-- We do have 3 medium/small friendly dogs on the property. We are definitely around to help you if you need something. You may see us enjoying a meal on the deck. Quiet hours are 10p-9a. We definitely want let you enjoy your private stay.

Autres remarques

There are three ways up to the bridge, none totally conventional. One is up a private back entrance and into and then immediately out of our main kitchen. Another (coming ~Sept 20) is a small stair that goes up through a large window onto the deck- it's more private that way but you have to crouch to take the final step. Finally, you're free to come through our main house especially when we're home, to say hi as you come or go.

We live in the main house and do use the deck but when you want some privacy on it just let us know we're happy to offer that.

The most beautiful bathroom, very luxurious and well appointed. We came in very late at night from the Amtrak train and there was no place to grab a bite to eat near the station. We were so blessed to find that Brian and his wife had a small fruit and cookie bowl in our room it was so appreciated, thank you. I really loved the central location of this place and that we didn't need a rental car. The local rail service (Bart) was only a 18 minute scenic walk to the 19th st. station and there was a restaurant and a coffee shop on the way to the Bart, wonderful food. The rail goes to San Francisco and if you get off at the fist stop you will be at the piers, at pier 3 is the "Hornblower ship" you can have brunch on board while sailing on the bay past Alcatraz and up to the Golden gate bridge. We loved our time there and would definitely stay with Brian and his wife again.

Brian communicated often and effectively. No issue with check in. The house had a communal feel since we used the kitchen. Other tenants were friendly. We felt safe at all times. The deck outside the tiny house is a great spot for having take out and cocktails. The BART at Merritt Lake is a little closer than the ferry, but both only a few minutes away. Easy walk to Lake Merritt as well. Small store, liquor store and Mexican place at the end of the street.

Brian was a great, communicative host. The place is small but cozy, cute, stylish and pretty new (and very clean). I like staying in Adam's Point. Good restaurants a few minutes away. I go for a run around the lake in the mornings. And for me, it's a quick walk to the office in Uptown Oakland. And because it was a business trip, I appreciated the evening quiet at the house and in the neighborhood.

Brian had a wonderful place to stay, was very welcoming, and very accommodating. They are in a great location, and the tiny home is by far one of the coolest places I have stayed. Would love to come back and visit again sometime soon. :)

For a tiny house it was really comfortable and the hosts very welcoming and inclusive. The thought that went into even the small gifts on arrival was just amazing.

This was a great, affordable place to stay while in the city. The host family was incredibly friendly, offering free food and drinks regularly while offering tips about the city. This is not a situation where you will have complete anonymity. You will be seeing the owners and possibly others throughout your stay. During my stay, the owners were hosting a few other people in a work for lodging arrangement. It turned out to be great and everyone was very friendly, but if you are looking for a place to get away with no interactions, you may want to look for another place. All in all, my stay was not only affordable - it was also a very communal experience which was actually quite nice. Plus, it is a brand new tiny house!

Travelling for work/ solo? Probably only sleeping at the place. With wonderful wife and two kiddos? We're there to play by day / until naptime at least, and probably in bed by 930.
