The reason for this bad review is because the tenant and her guest graciously racked up a $2,700 damage bill. The were the worst guests I have ever hosted in the past 6 years out of three rental houses. We are a 5 star rental for the the past 6 years for all of our homes and this tenant did everything in her power to disrespect our property and be quite disgusting. As far as the joint they found, it probably belonged to one of the 20 people they had at the house without authorization. It's a sad day when all of your had work, blood, sweat and tears are undone in the matter of two days from ungrateful children (yes, children 20-23 year olds) They actually turned all of the water faucets in the bathrooms on before they left so when the power came back on the tub that they stacked all the linens in overflowed and flooded our ground floor bathroom and because we are on well water caused mud to come up and all of our white linens were swimming in muddy water. The tenants also decided to have a party at the house and left very bit of garbage that they used scattered throughout the house. Bags of vomit and my linens used to wipe it up laying outside on the front and side porches. Obviously, these people weren't raised properly if they thought that this was an ok way to leave a house. As for the power going out, this wasn't just a small storm, this was a noreaster that blew in and dumped 2.5 ft of snow on the ground overnight. I don't live near this house so I sent my caretaker to the house to make sure they didn't need anything. I even let them come a day early because the storm was coming. I have no control over the weather and when the power goes out in the entire county. I do not list a generator as an asset to our home so I don't know why they would think we have one for the one severe storm we have had in three years. We also state in our rental agreement right on airbnb website that we are not responsible for lost time or items due to storms and power outages.
Bottom line is that our reviews speak for themselves. One bad review isn't the end of the world because you can't please everyone, especially an entitled child. It's pretty bad when Airbnb was floored by the photos I sent them.
