Où se situe le logement

Tollard Royal, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

We have fabulous pubs in the area, offering a wide range of choice: our 'local' is The King John Inn, while nearby are The Museum Inn in Farnham (3 miles), The Talbot in Berwick St John (5 miles), and The Forester at Donhead St Andrew (7 miles) - to name but a few.

Some destinations:

- Bath (30 miles), Salisbury Cathedral (17 miles), Sherborne Abbey (20 miles), Christchurch Priory (35 miles), Jurassic Coast (35 miles).

- We are just around the corner if you are coming to the Larmer Tree Gardens for either the music festivals or a wedding - included in the cost of the room is a lift to the Gardens.

- Golf: one mile from Park Farm House is Rushmore Golf Club, 18 holes set in parkland with spectacular views. With visitors welcome, the club is open seven days a week and offers offers food and a bar.

- Mountain-biking: there are abundant tracks and trails in the area, one of the most popular being the Ox Drove along the ridgeway between Shaftesbury and Salisbury. We have secure locking for bicycles.

- Road cycling: plenty of great rides through idyllic valleys, with twists and turns, going past lovely pubs.

- Guided walks: Jasper offers these around the Rushmore Estate and other nearby locations (please see the cranbornewalker' website for more details); alternatively, just an hour away you can be pondering the mysteries of Stonehenge, gaze at Salisbury’s soaring cathedral spire, walk through time along the Jurassic Coast or sense in Bath the romance of Jane Austen and the sophistication of Roman civilisation.

- Walks: before you start do look at the excellent 'Dorset Explorer' web-site; what about the 200-mile Hardy Way that covers the Cranborne Chase as well as treading in the footsteps of Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the D’Urbervilles' or up to Bulbarrow Hill, a wondeful vantage-point for spectacular views across the Blackmore Vale which Hardy called the ‘Vale of Little Dairies’. In even a short walk you can experience ancient woodlands, springy downland turf or ‘the high country’ ox-droves.

- Wildlife-watching: for badgers, foxes, bats and more please see 'badgerwatchdorset' web-site for details.

- Bird-watching: as well as the RSPB please also see the 'birdguides' web-site for local details and suggestions.

- For those keen on visiting gardens and fine country-houses we have famous names such as Longleat House, Stourhead, Mapperton House, and Wilton House.

- Even when it rains, there are so many options for ‘fossicking’ about, ranging from antique-shops to junk-shops and reclamation yards - you might be tempted by the tank in Wells Reclamation.

- But if you want to just wind down in time-honoured fashion then why not settle into Ye Olde Haunch of Venison in Salisbury’s Minster Street, where as The Daily Telegraph said: ‘You don’t just glimpse history here, you live it.’

I have lived in the area for the last twenty years and grew up on Salisbury Plain. From this I have developed a close interest in flora and fauna as well as the local history; using this I have developed 'talk-walks', pointing out interesting historical facts as well as the natural history. I have travelled in Africa, South America and most of Europe, bringing lots of interesting experiences and memories
