Comfortable ,richly appointed, incredible architecture and grand original character. 20 years in business. Edgewood Manor close to Roger Williams Park and our breakfast is fantastic. People come from the neighborhood just to have Joy's breakfast.

My husband and I decided to take a last minute, no-concrete-plans kind of mini road trip from Boston back home to Brooklyn. After exploring the Saturday in the Rockport, MA area, we decided that it might be nice to head to Rhode Island and stay the night there. I was happy to see such a lovely listing available on such short notice, so we booked the Edgewood Manor without knowing what kind of room we would get. The host contacted us about 30 minutes later to let us know he accepted our booking, that he had a lovely room for us, and then gave us some directions. When we arrived, he was super responsive and helped us navigate to our room via telephone. We ended up in the Scarlett's Retreat room, which was very big corner room with trees out one window. There was a huge fireplace. The bathroom had a standing shower (no tub), but that was not an issue for us. The room was beautiful, elegant, spacious, and very clean. We were close enough to Providence so we explored the area of Federal Hill, which has some nice restaurants and bars. We slept great when we returned. In the morning, the breakfast was also lovely, in a sun-drenched room with a view of the garden. The chef was very charming and accommodating. All in all, a great little trip and stay. Thank you!

Edgewood Manor is worth a stay just to see the amazing building and furnishings within. It's very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and Joy, the chef, is wonderfully sweet herself. I highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I felt pampered and living in the lap of luxury during our short stay at the Manor. It was very quick to get from there to the Brown campus for graduation. Our suite, the Carrera, on the third floor, had three rooms, a bedroom, a shower room with a toilet and sink (and, drum roll, ...a chandalier!!!) and a Jacuzzi room. We were able to keep the temperature just right with the ceiling fan and air conditioner. The 4 poster bed was grand and uber comfortable, I don't think I've ever slept in a bed that comfortable. The posts were wooden and very thick, tall and beautifully carved. The sheets and blankets were comfy, but the bedspread had a plastic polyester feel to it which was a bit off-putting. The only other negative was a cleaning solution smell when we first got there in the room. (maybe furniture polish?) Breakfast was delicious and huge and served in one of two gorgeous rooms. It was especially nice of the cook to adjust my dish and cook eggs Florentine with scallions without dairy. My boyfriend had a substantial plate of eggs Florentine (minus the cream cheese), sausage, English muffin. 3 kinds of juices and multiple teas plus coffee were served. There was also yummy banana bread. (Other guests also had fruit cups and yogurt, but we were full.) Breakfast is a leisurely affair, so leave time for it. The house itself is opulent. The owners have outdone themselves keeping it both clean and filled with interesting antiques. In our suite, there was a wooden framed mirror that was so beautiful it looked like it belonged in a museum. The antique dining room chairs surprised me with their weight and bumpy uncomfortable upholstery - we couldn't decide if the carvings at the top of them were dogs, or dragons or griffins. I also really enjoyed talking to the other guests at breakfast, many of whom had been there multiple times. The Jacuzzi was wonderful, if you want hot, you've got very hot, and marble all around. Seriously, if you want to spend a weekend pretending to be a movie star living the life, this is the place to do it!

We were greeted by Kevin, the innkeeper. We had a wonderful experience. Our accommodation was comfortable and breakfast was a delight. Everything was made to order and was delicious. We would definitely return if we were to visit Providence RI again .

General // -Booking: BEWARE UPSELLING TO MORE EXPENSIVE ROOMS -Building: Beautiful with lavish greek revival decor, plenty of coffee and fruit out at all hours. -Staff: Very pleasant innkeeper, quiet and polite. Very nice cleaning lady who found our missing jewelry within minutes and chased us down in the parking lot. Manager/reservations guy Andy was very unpleasant and upsold me a more expensive room after telling me that was the room that was available for the booking price. -Room: Lovely and spacious. However complaints entail broken furniture, trash bin full of garbage and dead ant in comforter. 3 of the light fixtures were broken (not just dead bulbs) and the fire alarm kept going off in the morning as we packed for our departure. Details // My booking experience went as follows: -I ask what rooms are available for specific date -Am told room is available at price listed -I look at room on the website and book the stay -The next morning I am told I have booked a smaller room -When I tell them there has been a mistake and that I was told that I had a larger room at the same price, I am told that room has been booked for march and that I can always upgrade upon arrival -I continue to ask which other rooms are then available at the price I booked at and am repeatedly told that every room that has any space in it is booking up fast or unavailable the day after each inquiry. -I leave for check in knowing only that the small room I did not want is being held for me and that my only option will be to upgrade with the innkeeper by giving them an additional $40, if a larger room is in fact still available -I arrive as ask so see both rooms -My tiny room has about 40sqft of walkable space just enough to squeeze around the bed -The large room is humongous -Frustrated my partner agrees to pay the difference because he knows I am struggling with the immorality of the bait and switch move the manager Andy just pulled. -The innkeeper leaves us in the large room, letting us know that we can pay when we come down once we are settled. -We unpack and start getting dressed to leave -10 minutes later the innkeeper comes back to ask if we need extra towels, and to remind us to come down and pay the $40 downstairs -10 minutes after she leaves I get a phone call from an anonymous number, from Andy, telling us to come down and pay the $40 -I let him know that it had been made abundantly clear that we have to pay the price difference from being upsold the upgrade, and hung up to finish getting dressed before someone had a chance to bust out of the fake fireplace to remind us yet again!

Im always amazed at what people write I answered 14 emails from Lena and could not have been more clear about our prices of our rooms . She eventually took the Jacuzzi room for only 40 dollars plus tax more than the 155 she paid she still got a tremendous deal and complained wow and she stroked the innkeeper for two hours on the 45 dollars I had to call her to tell her to pay the innkeeper. By the way we have no fake fireplaces they are all real... Lena... they all work and much to your surprise you did not have a fireplace room. You left a bad taste in all of the inns staff with your attitude but they put up with you because that is what they do. if I checked you in you would have paid the money before you got your room. It was aweful that I had to phone you to get you to pay the extra 45 total of 199 that you paid for a 250 room. Shame on you but after doing some research you seem to have very little of that.
