“The area is best known as Barrio de las Letras and is part of the historic Madrid, and the Madrid de los Austrias. Main spots, Plaza de Santa Ana, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, Royal Opera House and Royal Palace. Is a huge area with many historic monuments, museums, but also markets, shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, etc. It can be a bit rowdy on weekends but is definitely one of the landmarks of Madrid.”

“Flamenco is in the roots of Spanish culture. We've seen Flamenco performances several times at Cardamomo, and we love it every time we go. Highly recommend getting tickets that include the sangria. We recommend getting a seat up close, but skip the dinner package. There are better options for food. Besides, trying dinner at a different restaurant allow you to see a new place. ”

“RADIO rooftop bar at ME Madrid Reina Victoria Hotel was recently refurbished and got a more exclusive edge, and have quickly become one of the hotspots of the city. During the afternoon and early night there is a nice lounge feel up here with a relaxed atmosphere. Later at night the party vibe rises, with DJs playing and the stylish people enjoying. Great fun, but also a bit expensive. From the terrace you get a panoramic 360-degree views over all of Madrid. The rooftop bar offers a great selection of cocktails and classic Spanish tapas for the hungry one. There is a stylish and classy lounge decor all over the terrace, with large sofas and umbrellas. Sometimes the rooftop is reserved for private events, like weddings, so worth checking that out before your visit.”

“Founded in 1931, Casa Gonzalez's reputation precedes it as even tour guides make sure to bring their groups to taste the best cheeses Madrid has to offer in this historic location. Vicente González Ambit, major shop assistant at La Mallorquina, decided to set up his own business in this establishment of calle León, in which the back room was the family home. González began to turn the establishment into a specialist shop for high quality Murcian cold meats, groceries and Manchego cheeses among others. However, grandfather Vicente became wrapped up in the twists and turns of the Civil War and was even imprisoned. After the turbulent years of the conflict, Casa González became a purveyor for the select society of Madrid in these days, serving everyone from Ortega and Gasset to the ancient aristocracy of the era.”
