Fantastic place to go and look around, with the drive up being in the top 10 best scenic drives in the world. Limestone caves, lots of rocky mountains and nikau palms. The pancake rocks is a great short walk to do, watch sea water blow up through the rocks at high tide or rough seas to spray water every where. Google DOC Punakaiki. Around 45 min drive one way.

Awesome beach. Good for swimming in summer- may be a bit cold though.
Good walkway to do, next to the sea. Go along as far as you want, and turn around and come back. The whole walk is very long.
