This lagoon is created by the melting glacier Vatnajökull, which is the biggest glacier in Europe. You can watch the icebergs for hours floating around the water and finally going to the ocean.

It's a beautiful lake on top of Systrafjall (Sister's mountain). Legend has it that 2 nuns drowned in the lake when they tried to catch a golden comb which appeared to them in the middle of the lake.

This is the volcano that started the French Revolution. The area is stunningly alien, nothing you have most likely ever seen before. I only recommend seeing Laki on a sunny or a cloudy day and start your trip early! If it is raining then the roads to Laki are most defenitely closed due to floody rivers.

This place is the closest to Heiðarsel where you can find a restaurant, information and WiFi. The people are really friendly and the place is a nice mixture of tourism and a real farm. Only 5 km away.

A natural spring swimming pool that is built and molten to the roots of a mountain. It's a 20-30 minute walk to the pool, but it is 100% worth it. Don't forget to bring a bathing suit and a towel!
