Willapa bay is one of the most pristine estuaries in the US. Since there is practically no industry on the rivers feeding the bay it has a rich unpolluted ecosystem to enjoy.

Long beach is kitchety with lots of arcades and kite shops, fudge factories and ice cream shops. Marshes free museum is a must see. The cottage bakery is classic, The 42nd street cafe has great food.

Ilwaco has a great fresh fish market and some sweet little galleries and junk shops.

Seaview
Seaview is a charming little community just to ride thru and see all the sweet cottages.
Oysterville is worth the drive up especially if you are heading to Ledbetter. It's only a couple blocks long but had a fish market and lunch spot.

Catherine O'Toole had a beautifully chaotic little book store that is worth getting lost in.

Ocean park is just right. It's quiet for a nice relaxing stay but has all the amenities within walking distance.

Swimming on the western beaches is not advisable, serious rip tides abound but Waikiki beach at cape disappointment is more protected and the best option for ocean swimming - caution is always best.

The full circle cafe has ice cream, fantastic breakfasts and great lunches too! Plus a yarn shop in the back.

Baker bay is a great place to boat and see the historic port. Watch for fishing boat traffic and low tides a guided boat tour is best.

The Naselle river and Chetlo harbor are gorgeous - as always currents and tides need to be considered, the mouth gets gets very hairy!

If you can get a boat go out to Long Island it is an amazing place - trails run out to several view points and thru the ancient forest. Elk and bear are present so act responsibly.

Willapa bay is lovely to explore but conditions change rapidly, a slight wind can create 4 to 6 foot waves on what looks like a very calm day. Only expert boaters should venture out.

Hikes go out along the estuary, thru newly formed forest, dunes and then on to the beach which is protected and way quieter than the drivable beaches.

Nice hikes, The discovery trail connects Long beach to Ilwaco, the hike from Beards hollow to the North head lighthouse has great views, you can also drop down into Ft Canby park.

A trail runs up to cape disappointment lighthouse past a beautiful little cove. There is also a trail that runs along Baker bay.
