MASS MoCA is an incredible modern art museum in North Adams. It has several of its own eateries in-house and nearby there is a restaurant I enjoy called The Public. MASS MoCA also features a wide variety of interesting performances ranging from music to dance parties to speakers. It is worth look at the their events calendar.

15 minute drive. One of the last places in the area that ever resembles a divey bar...though it isn't particularly divey. Just has a more local vibe. Good food. Questionable service;). Worth a visit.

Small active city with lots of eating choices and several music venues. Could easily spend a day here walking around the town to eateries, coffee, artisan shops, checking out the Smith College Indoor Gardens. Fairly active night life too.

Greenfield is a town that has struggled to get on its feet. But most of that struggle has been in a positive direction. But it also features some great venues all located around the center: The Peoples Pint, Magpie Pizza, The Hope and Olive, and Seymours are all places I would highly recommend. There is a music venue there too that has begun to make a name for itself: The Hawk and Reed.

Turners Falls is approximately 30 minutes east and south of Shelburne Falls. It has its own charm with some eccentric bars, eateries, some found goods stores, music venues, and a pin ball game room.

North Adams is about 30 minutes west. Its economy has been poor, even with the presence of the expansive MASS MoCA. However, there are some nice bars and restaurants. Some of the located underneath the canopy of MASS MoCA and others in the town itself: The Public and the HiLo are both places I enjoy going regularly.

Most restaurants in the area close Tuesday nights...
