Bath's most famous eating house. Their menu offers historic refreshment based on the original Sally Lunn bun – still baked to a secret recipe – and rich in local cuisine and authentic historic dishes. Step back in time and enjoy breakfast in one of the oldest houses in Bath, built in 1680. (Make sure you catch the museum under the restaurant)

On part of the ground floor of the Empire Hotel in Bath, overlooking Pulteney Bridge. We love the huge, high ceilinged dining room that still manages to feel private due to the layout of the tables. We've always had excellent food here. Great for a large gathering or an intimate meal for two.

Escape from the heavily-trodden tourist routes and visit the Prior Park Landscape Gardens. Walk to the back entrance of the gardens takes about 10 min, you'll thank this recommendation once you're there. Spectacular views of the valley with the city in the background. Hint: Go see the grafitti on the Palladium Bridge, at least one dating back to the 1700s.
