This is the best place to stop as you enter Redwood National park from the South. Even if the visitor center is closed, kiosks will be available to browse to check on current trail conditions, and other info on the park.

About an hour from my house to the South. Lots of hiking trails and ancient redwoods, camping and more.

A good detour that parallels highway 101. Avenue of the Giants has some of the last remaining old growth redwoods. Plenty of places to pull over and take pictures or hike around.
