This is a family owned, hip, European style coffee shop with a great atmosphere, great coffee and bakery items--it feels like Brooklyn except it's not over-crowded or over-priced. You can also bring your laptop and get work done here. It's what most people are doing.

In addition to it's full theater programming, Joe's Pub offers great drinks and music. Theater tickets are much more reasonably priced than Broadway and the level of artistry is often much higher.

The Signature is the other great non-profit theater institution in NYC. It's a quick 10 minute walk from where the bus lets off in Midtown and tickets are only $25. It also has a lovely cafe in the lobby.

This is a great Bar in Astor Place, Manhattan, just a short walk from The Public Theater. Many theater artists hang out here because it's right in the middle of the "downtown" theater district, which is where much of the most exciting theater is being done.
