Just around the corner from my home, The Bab offers just a few options - but they are all excellent. You can do take-out, but eating at the restaurant gives you the possibility to order the dolt bibimbap, a sizzling hot bowl filled with rice, vegetables, egg and bulgogi, wonderful tender sweet beef. There are also vegetarian options.

A great coffee bar and lunchroom (with your coffee, have the excellent Swedish cinnamon bun) that really shines at night as a wine bar and probably soon Michelin recognised restaurant. Current chef Tubó Ligier has an awesome evolving menu.
The staff and owner Daniel Schein are very friendly and extremely knowledgable, and will happily guide you through their extensive list of wines by young makers with new interesting styles.
If you are looking to splash for an awesome dinner during your stay, I'd highly recommend 4850.

Great pizza's and pasta with good ingredients, served by friendly staff. Just a short walk from the apartment, across Wibautstraat, you will find Mangiassai. The decor is a bit dated but for a comfortable meal with good Italian wines or beer, Mangiassai is a place we regularly drop by.

Loetje is a large restaurant but keeps the quality up. Loetje started as a steak restaurant near Museumplein and over the years found itself growing into a local chain. The restaurant on Ruyschstraat must have been their 5th or 6th branch. The staff is friendly and professional, and the cooks have the cooking of steaks in traditional and more modern styles down to a science. If you like spicy, go for Biefstuk Bali, which means the jus is finished with a solid dose of sambal, an Indonesian chili paste.

Loetje Oost
15 RuyschstraatLoetje is a large restaurant but keeps the quality up. Loetje started as a steak restaurant near Museumplein and over the years found itself growing into a local chain. The staff is friendly and professional, and the cooks have the cooking of steaks in traditional and more modern styles down to a science. If you like spicy, go for Biefstuk Bali, which means the jus is finished with a solid dose of sambal, an Indonesian chili paste.
