The trail traces the lakeshore for about three miles, offering the chance to glimpse bald eagles and other birds of prey, and then merges with the half-mile Wallenpaupack Creek Trail.

From the point of Pennwood, if you look out into the lake, to the right, you'll see Kipp Island. It's small but there's a short hiking trail and, last we were there, a few charcoal grills. You'll need some kind of boat to get here, but we recommend a Kayak.

If you'd like to go for a fun drive...
Get on Rt. 507 up towards Hawley or down towards Newfoundland, Rt. 590, Old Greentown Rd, Ledgedale Rd. (lots of whoopee hills), Rt 6 from Hawley to Honesdale.

Fishing in Pennwood
You're welcome go fishing on the shoreline in Pennwood, with a one exception: There is no fishing allowed anywhere near the main swimming area. This includes fishing from the swimming dock, or casting anywhere near the swimming area.
We recommend two spots for fishing within Pennwood.
(1) From "The Point". The lake is rocky here so it's a good spot for catching Bass.
(2) From any of the boat docks. If you're fishing with young children, this will be a lot more enjoyable. There are a ton of Bluegills and Sunfish that live under the docks.
