Look them up on Google or Trip Advisor) to get an in depth history of the city, recommendations for the best restaurants and additional places to visit in the area.

Uber and Lyft are both available on the island.
The island is very easy to navigate via your personal car and/or bicycle. You can easily drive to downtown Charleston in approximately 15 minutes. The Charleston Visitors Center at 375 Meeting Street is a great starting point and offers maps, parking and free HOP shuttle information as well as information on all historic points of interest and restaurants on the peninsula and surrounding areas.
