A gem of NYS. The Adirondacks (ADKs) covers a lot of area, but parts of it are only about 1.5 hours away or so. The ADKs offer lots of hiking trails, and waterways great for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.

This place is great for kids! It's a petting zoo (plus other activities) that has both native and non-native species of animals. It's a fun family day-trip! Make sure to call/check the website before you go; they are not open year-round.
