This is perfect for a sunset or sunrise. You will have a good chance to see some Game animals as well as some breathtaking views over the great Karoo. Take a small Picknick basket and find a cosy spot at the top. It’s very easy to access and takes driving about 25min from our house to the top of The Valley.

Explore the Camdeboo Nationalpark by bike and stand a chance to view some of the game in an even closer proximity than you would from a car. If you have good stamina a trip by bike to nieu-Bethesda along the Owl route is a must do. I can provide you with GPX tracks and route suggestions for your stay.

quircky little Art town surrounded by mountains. About a 30min drive from our house it’s as scenic as it gets. There is a nice Pizza place or traditional pad stalls to fill the stomachs.

One of South Africa’s most advanced art collection where you don’t expect it. located in Richmond by the N1. Worth a trip from our house. Driving time about 1,5h. Very scenic drive as well.

The Dutch Reformed Church gave rise to several Reformed denominations in South Africa, including the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa (Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk), the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk, the Gereformeerde Kerke in Suid-Afrika, the Afrikaans Protestant Church (Afrikaanse Protestantse Kerk), and the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa.
About Dutch Reformed Church in Graaff-Reinet:
The Dutch Reformed Church in Graaff-Reinet is the symbol of the town. few small towns anywhere in the world can have such a spectacular centre-piece.
Constructed between April1886 and consecrated in 1887, the church is loosely modelled on Salisbury Cathedral in England. It must have been irritating to the townspeople when the nearby town of Aberdeen finished a church with a taller steeple!
The congregation were very active in helping to build this, the fourth church to be built here (although the first burnt to the ground before being completed). The stone was quarried at Adendorp, 10km from the twon, and they loaded the stone onto their ox-wagons to deliver it to the building site. The third church had a thatched roof, so the leap to a structure that resembled Salisbury Cathedral must have been quite a magnificent sight for the people of Graaff-Reinet!
The church is a wealthy one, owning extremely valuable silverware, and still attracts a large congregation to its doors on a Sunday, although not, perhaps, the 2000 that turned up on the 11th September 1887 for it's first service.

One of the most spectacular succulent and Cacti collection. Very special owner that changes his opening times frequently. Even when closed a very nice place to have a look at.

We love their calamari but overall all their food is amazing. You can as well purchase freshly roasted coffee from the Karoo as well as some very nicely selected Wines and Spirits.

Very nice Pizza in an upmarket environment but still very reasonably priced. Other great dishes to be enjoyed as well. Highly recommended

Being the only 5 Star place in town, their Bar and Restaurant offer some good food and drinks. Not the cheapest but on par with Cape Town and Joburg prices.

Great for an authentic Karoo Experience. Remember you are in the land of rustic “boerekos” with venison, lamb and tripe.
