Saklikent is around 40 km due east of Fethiye and north of Kas. Saklikent is a Canyon which is unbelievably beautiful and mystic in Turkey. The Saklikent Canyon is 18 km long, 300 meters deep and is steep and narrow. The Saklikent Canyon is longer by 4 km each than the Ihlara Valley in Cappadocia and the Koprulu Canyon in Turkey. After Verdon in France and Vikos in Greece, it is considered to be the third longest canyon in Europe. The Saklikent Gorge also known as “Hidden Valley” or The Lost City. This valley with a stream flowing through the icy waters. Streams of water is really cold. This cold water, spring water of the Bey Mountains within the terms of the areas that are eminently valuable water. Enjoy a nice trek or river rafting or lazing on the banks of the minty green river.

The largest of them is the Basilica of Panayia Pyrgiotissa (has been built in 1888) is located on the right of the main street – it is really difficult to pass by this impressive building in the gothic style. It takes your breath away when you come inside and see nobody but the bare walls.

St Nicholas Island, also known as “Gemiler Island”, is famous for being the supposed resting place of Saint Nicholas or otherwise known as “Santa Claus”. The island is located only 20kms away from the large town of Fethiye. It is believed that when St Nicholas died in 326 he was buried here on the island before moving remains to Demre due to increased pirate raids. The island is scattered in some impressive ruins well worth the exploration. There are five churches that date back to the 4th and 6th centuries AD along with a large covered walkway that is over 300 meters long. St Nicholas Island is also one of the best spots to sit atop and get to witness one of the most magical sunsets in Turkey.

The dining on sunset at Babadag restaurant is something you will remember forever and it will become a highlight of your holidays in Turkey. One of the most magnificent panoramas of the Turkish Riviera will soothe your eyes, you will witness the paragliders jumping off the Babadag mountain to Oludeniz Blue Lagoon. On a clear and cloudless day you can see the Greek Island of Rhodes from the top of Babadag Mountain in Turkey. About half an hour’s drive from Fethiye, just west of Dalaman Airport and east of Marmaris, sits one of our favourite little towns, Dalyan. A central part of life in Dalyan is, of course, its river. The Dalyan Çayı. This is the meandering stretch of water that connects the lake at Köyceğiz to the Mediterranean Sea. Dalyan restaurants are pretty numerous and it would be remiss not to have at least one meal on the banks of the river. Choose a selection of meze plates from the fridges and graze on classic Turkish delicacies whilst watching the river boats chug along the waterways. Most of the riverside restaurants offer views across the water to the magnificent Dalyan rock tombs; the Kings’ Rock Tombs. You can also catch a sunset – this is where life on the river slows down a little… Hop In A Boat A Dalyan boat trip of some description is a must. In the summer season, there are daily excursions along the river. Use the people’s taxi boat to head to the protected area along Iztuzu Beach or head in the opposite direction to Köyceğiz and its Monday market.

Hisaronu and Ovacik comes to life in the evenings, this tourist village really comes into its own. Hisaronu has the most popular nightlife in the Fethiye area and though the nightlife here caters to many tastes. Start your night in Hisaronu in one of the many restaurants with international cuisine served in many places, though you can still enjoy many restaurants that serve traditional Turkish and other cuisines too. If loud music and a busy dance floor is not your thing there are many bars and pubs in Hisaronu offering a slightly different experience. There are quieter establishments, but from 10pm onwards you’re almost guaranteed some kind of party atmosphere, wherever you go!
