My favorite bars & restaurants

I love the giant pretzel! Friday nights Crafted has Turtle races (yes, turtle races). It’s actually a ton of fun and free! And you can win $1 beers :) Oh, and the outside fire places are awesome! During winter you can sit inside of igloos. Definitely one of my favorite spots.

A great place to play pool! They have DJs and Karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays and live bands most Fridays and Saturdays.

Whispers is a really nice place to have cocktails right on the lake. It’s probably one of the best views in my opinion. In winter they even have Igloos on the docks that you can sit in.

Lake days

This has all my beach favorite spots
This is where I go at least 90% of the time I take my kids to the beach. Tip: It is located right by North Idaho College (NIC). During the summer you can use their parking lot for free. So it makes it very easy to haul all your beach equipment since it’s just across the dike road. (The “dike road” is the road between NIC and the lake. Everyone calls it that and it took me a while to figure it out). This beach also has volleyball courts, and rentals provided by NIC. They rent paddle boards, kayaks, catamarans, and more. They also have bathrooms and a snack bar.

It’s a beach right downtown. Sandy & Grassy areas, and concrete steps that my kids love jumping off of into the water. It’s also close to the boardwalk bar in case you get thirsty 😏 Oh! And this is the PERFECT spot for 4th of July fireworks! Only downside is parking is not great. There is a small lot

Easy hike. Beautiful views! And you might find a beach that nobody else is at. I highly recommend doing this at least once.

Skiing/Snowboarding

Lookout is an excellent mountain and always has the best powder. It’s also the most affordable.

Sightseeing

This is a must do while you visit! Easy 15 mile bike ride (mostly slow decline). My 6 & 8 year olds did the entire thing on their own bikes. You go through old train tunnels under ground, and see amazing views. Then a bus brings you back to your car. Headlamps and helmets required. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll try my best to hook you up with all the equipment you need!

Conseils aux voyageurs

Se déplacer dans les environs

Use a taxi. Or Uber.

Use a taxi or Uber. The house is just over a mile from downtown, so even on the busiest of nights it shouldn’t cost more than $15. Its typically around $11 plus tip.

“Dike Road”

It’s the road between North Idaho College (NIC) and the lake. Took me forever to figure that out when I first moved here. I still don’t know the actual name of the road. I’ll update this if I ever find out.
