Big Trees State Park is a must-see when visiting the area! Our favorite trail to do with the kids is the North Loop Trail, this easy, flat hike is about 2 miles long. Along the path are 26 different markers with facts and fun things to discover. Such a magical place!

The views are stunning and if you go mid-week - the slopes are pretty empty. There is a restaurant and rental equipment available.

We love going to Lake Alpine for a day of swimming and fishing. You can stop at the lodge during the summer and have lunch or pack a picnic. You can take the lakeshore trail and walk around the lake. There is a $5/day use fee.

White pines lake has a nice little beach front perfect for relaxing and swimming. There are bathrooms and a small playground near by. Swimming, fishing, kayaking and hiking.

Winter Packing
It can get pretty cold here. If you are visiting during the snow season (November - April) be sure to pack warm clothes. It's always a good idea to bring; gloves, a snow jacket, snow pants, snow boots, and a hat. Pro tip - For your comfort and enjoyment we suggest packing slippers for the cold cabin mornings!
At nearly 5000 ft elevation, we can get see a lot of snow, and getting around can be treacherous, it is required to carry chains under winter conditions.

The cabin does not have an EV charger available. The closest Tesla Supercharger is in Copperopolis about 45 mins away.
