Food scene

One of our favourite things to do is to have “breakfast” at Mekan, a sea side café that serves up a tasty brunch which is great value and fills you up for the day. Mekan is also a lovely place to chill out with a cold drink, especially at sunset. Grab one of the tables on the beach, get the sand between your toes and enjoy a beer with some mezes or snacks. Time slows down as you watch the sun setting over the sea.

City/town information

Fethiye is a port city, and district, on Turkey's southwestern Turquoise Coast. It's known for its natural harbor, blue waters and numerous rock tombs including the 4th-century B.C. Tomb of Amyntas, carved into a bluff overlooking the city. Near-shore islands are popular for day trips by boat. In the south, the beach at Ölüdeniz is sheltered by a lagoon, and Butterfly Valley is a designated nature reserve. The old part of the town is definitely worth exploring. The narrow bustling streets have a host of shops, cafes and bars. The fishmarket in this side of town is worth a visit. Buy the fish you fancy from the wide selection available. Then take a seat at one of the many restaurants encircling the market and get them to cook and serve it up to you.
