This is a great park to contrast with Prospect. It's new and not even finished but it offers lots of activities and great views of the NYC skyline and is a great stop off on the way to Manhattan.

Nothing fancy but if you like Mexican food it a great place to grab a bite or get something to go and bring it to the park and they stay open very late.

I really like this hole-in-the-wall Falafel place. The guy who owns it is really nice, and the food is always fresh. It's a great place to grab lunch for a picnic in the park though not super fast.

A great higher end Mexican restaurant. The food is great, the drinks are amazing, and the happy hour (4-7PM weekdays 4-6PM Fri-Sat) is a great deal.

Not the best roti shop in Brooklyn, but still pretty good. If you've never had a West-Indian/Trinidadian roti before it's a nice walk through the park to explore a different cuisine.

Arts & Culture

I can't say I highly recommend this theatre but mostly because they don't often have films I want to see (but if you like blockbusters you might enjoy it). Plus it's only 3 blocks away!

It's a great art museum, and it's free/donation based. A nice walk through the park and on your way you can spend some time next door at the Botanical Gardens (free Tuesdays).

This is BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) and its the best place to see Theatre, dance and films in Brooklyn. Many performances also have very discounted rush tickets. http://www.bam.org/

The Botanic Garden is a short walk away and is beautiful. It free on Tuesdays, and Saturday before 12PM, and if your a kid or a student. It's also free from Nov-Feb. It's next to the Brooklyn Museum.
