New in the neighborhood: Het Amsterdams Proeflokaal ('Amsterdam Taste Place') combines a restaurant, a seafood restaurant and a beer cafe in one really large place. And it's quite coay as well.

The Dutch fast food culture is known for the 'Kroket' (Crunchy on the outside, meat ragout on the inside). FEBO is the Duch counterpart of McDonald's and you should definitely try a kroket there. They are also known for a phenomenon referred to as 'getting food from the wall'. A must-try as well! (p.s. The Airbnb guide shows an incorrect location. It's located next to the Etos and Albert Heijn across the street.

This is as Dutch as a bar gets. In Holland we call this a 'Bruine Kroeg', which translate to Brown Pub. I guess this is because of the thick layer of brown yuck that was caused by the heavy smoking that used to be normal in bars and pubs. Today, there is (almost) bar were smoking is allowed.

There is the Leidseplein (plein = square) and the Rembrandtplein. Both have a collection of cafes and bars. My recommendation would be the Schiller Cafe.

Parks & Nature
The most famous park in Amsterdam, and probably Holland. Great for walks and lounging. Just be careful not to walk in the roads. This is a 'bike highway'.

The whole of the Jaagpad (especially towards the 'New Lake' or Nieuwe Meer, is worth a walk. The north takes you past a variety of housebats, towards the South you will see a large lake.

This is THE PLACE to be in the Vondelpark area. De Hallen ('The Halls') is a food court, but done really well. Inside an old tram remise there is this great oasis of shops, a cinema, restaurant and The Maker Store.
