Orphaned baby elephants are cared for at this Elephant Transit Home run by the Wildlife Department of Sri Lanka. They are intentionally not tamed and instead trained to be wild, so that they can be released to the jungle in groups once their old enough.

An ancient mansion built in the 1700s which once had over 100 rooms is a good half day tour. It is yet to become a popular tourist site and mostly visited by locals.
