Drinks & Nightlife

It's very traditional, a 10 minute walk from the flat and has a great beer garden. It also serves very good food and the Queen popped in for lunch here in July 2016!! It also has a skittle alley!!!

They do BRILLIANT burgers here. Its right on the seafront, with views over the Firth of Forth and the staff are spot on! Some outdoor seating available on the promenade. About a 20-30 minute walk from the flat, depending on your speed, or there is a bus from the flat.

This place is a MUST. Recently been taken over and is a great spot. All food is hand made, but the prices are very competitive. Lovely traditional space and THE MOST PHOTOGRAPHIC beer garden. Go!!!!

Arts & Culture

This is a MUST when you are in Edinburgh. It's in a lovely setting, within The Queen's Park and it's absolutely CHOCK A BLOCK FULL of old stuff and plenty of culture. This is the Queen's official residence when she is in Edinburgh. Very close to the Scottish Parliament, so you could easily do both in a day.

I must seem like a royalist!! But I think this is a really good half day out. The Queen's former private yacht. Much of the original stuff has been taken out (by Her Maj) but the pure beauty and simplicity of the yacht is wonderful. Make sure to have lunch on the piano deck - very reasonable - and well priced.

Parks & Nature

This is a 10 minute walk from the flat. Arthur's Seat is an extinct volcano and is an iconic landmark right in the centre of the city. You could spend a good half day here, wandering around. Two lochs - one at the bottom and one at the top - and a great place to take photos of the city.

Shopping

If you want a serious day's shopping, hop on a train (45 minutes) and GO TO GLASGOW! It's much better than Edinburgh, as it has loads more shops and you will also get a feel of the difference between the 2 cities.
