If you like BBQ you are in for a real treat, we used to drive to Johnson City to get the best BBQ, but since High Ridge opened we only eat BBQ here! The Pork sandwich and the Beef Brisket are the best! Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Hours are 10:30- 7pm

They usually have music starting at 7pm, but we go there because they have the best food and everything is fresh. We like the Ribeye, the salads, soups, mac n cheese and it's only 20 minutes from the house in the cute Mountain town of Hot Springs.

One of our top picks to bring our guest to for a weekend brunch because they only make their hot fresh chestnut glazed donuts on the weekends. Anytime is a good time to go, there food is fabulous, but if you don't go early you will need a reservation.

We eat here weekly, because everyone loves it, it's so fresh, fast and economical. Their table side guacamole is the best. We have never had a bad meal there, they are consistently delish.

Jay is the owner, entertainer, operator and many times is there by himself; his pizza is our favorite, you can get it deep dish, but we love the thin crispy crust house special. It's eclectic, laid back serve yourself style. If you go early enough explore the shops in Black Mountain a very cool town.

The view is outstanding and the food is very good, this is a beautiful drive and is right off the blue ridge parkway. This could be one of your stops on many other sight seeing stops near this area, there is also Grassy Creek waterfalls near by.

The tallest mountain east of the Mississippi with stunning views from the top. You can drive all the way to the top, with a short walk to the pinnacle or stop part way and hike up. It's best to go on a clear day, you can see for miles in every direction.

Be sure and stop at Linville River Merchantile and get the peanut butter pie or cobblers they always make fresh everyday. Once you've gone that far might as well go see the via duct on the blue ridge parkway, a masterpiece of road construction that goes around the mountain and always featured in magazine photos.

This was purchased by Omni Resorts, but is an historic landmark hotel, they hold the annual Gingerbread Contest and it is decked out for the holidays with many visitors and activities; you can see downtown Asheville from the back of the hotel, there is also a lot of historical information to tour and see. All kinds of famous people stayed here...The food is overpriced, and usually requires reservations.

While your driving to Johnson City, TN, there are several good food places to check out too. Try Freddies; a famous burger, fry, custard place or Tupelo Honey Cafe, a sister to the one here in Asheville.
