Kings Cross (which is actually part of, and therefore next door to, St Pancras) is a central station for pretty much every tube line. It's a 20 minute walk, a 5 min cab ride to ours or the 390 bus from Kings Cross stops almost outside our front door and takes 5 or 6 minutes!

Kentish Town station is 10 mins walk from ours (or hop on the 393 bus at the bus stop across the road from our front door!) and there's an overground platform at KT as well as tube. The overground platform gets you to St Pauls Cathedral in 14 minutes!

Just 3 mins walk from ours, is a bus stop on Camden Road: buses 29 and 253 go from here. The 29 bus is a superb service takes you right into Trafalgar Square, runs 24 hrs, and the 253 takes you to Euston - both super handy to have close by.

Golborne Road is one of the very few streets in London that's got a real earthy feel to it....there's a real mix of expensive shops with super cheap all on the same road. Great market on Saturdays. This is our favourite breakfast haunt in London. As well as excellent coffee, a great menu, friendly good service it's also one of the few places in London you're unlikely to have to queue for a table at the weekends. We love it!

Great breakfast. Lovely menu, superb coffee, nice environment. There's a larger Caravan at Kings Cross (think New York warehouse style) but we prefer the intimacy of this one. Both are great.

Biased since it is only across the road - but The Lord Stanley is a great London pub which serves great gastro food too. The menu changes weekly but the pizzas stay the same - and with a take out option are very popular with families who fancy staying in in the evening and don't want to cook!

Fantastic Chinese restaurant. It's big but they fill it. A lot of Chinese people eat here which is always a good sign! It's pricey so don't expect a small bill, but do expect very good food.

Wembley stadium is just 6 miles away. We often have guests staying with tickets to either a sporting or musical event here. It's easy to get to and since there's not an awful lot to do there other than visit the stadium, it's nice to come back central afterwards!

Camden is a brilliant place for diverse shopping. Ethnic, hippy, punk, it's all here. If you're in to the club scene or even if you're not it's worth checking out Cyberdog in the market for a taste of colour. If you're looking for leather goods (clothing and bags), or jewellery (check out Tribu who have multiple stalls) or funky souvenirs, or of course Doc Marten's (check out the British Boot Company which was one of the first UK stores to sell DM's) then Camden is the place for you. And if you don't want to shop (or eat - every possible culinary choice is available here!), then chilling out at Camden Lock on a sunny day is one of the nicest ways to spend a day in London

Notting Hill is a hugely popular market. It's much more vintage furniture than it is clothing - and of course home to the infamous book shop in the film! There's a really nice vibe here.

Through a tiny alley on Oxford Street is a beautiful little treasure trove of shops & eateries. It's not so much a secret spot for Londoners but for our visitors it's a hidden gem! If you prefer to get off the main buzz of Oxford St and find somewhere nice to sit down and eat or window shop, it's a cute cut through - on the other side of which, it brings you out near Marylebone High Street. Shops include Whistles, Mulberry, Kurt Geiger and Jigsaw. Eats include Carluccios, Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge.

Top Tip: Angela Flanders Perfumer - the shop's been here over 30 yrs and with candles and oils, room sprays and her signature perfumes. The flower market opens at 8am and it's good to get there early!
