Delicious daily soups made in-house. Try the western burger if you're truly starving. Great hearty fare after a hard day of skiing, hiking or biking. You earned it. Tell Jess we say hi. Reliably open for lunch and dinner, even during slow times. Has a patio for nice weather eating outside.

If you need to get out and be productive, this is the place. Grab a breakfast burrito, cozy up in an armchair or grab a table in the window with a mountain view (on the right around the corner when you walk in). Plenty of electrical outlets near tables, this place attracts the millennial crowd looking to get a few hours of computer work in. Beware, this place is not the cheapest - breakfast burritos are $7. But the WiFi is free and fast.

Parks & Nature

Hike, bike, snowshoe, cross-country ski, whatever your activity flavor, this trail is gorgeous. Take Elm St west from the house (left on Elm from the house) and you'll run right into it about a half mile down where Elm ends. We recommend turning left when you hit the trail to wind up in to the mountains. Here's a full map of the trail: http://www.mineralbelttrail.com/mineral-belt-trail-map.

Hike a famous Colorado 14'er while you're here! You're already at 10,150 feet, why not go another few thousand up? Mt. Massive is the 2nd highest 14k ft peak in Colorado, reaching 14,421'. There are 2 main trails up - both are all day trips: the east route and the southwest route. East route is longer but more mild, and the more popular route. We've done the southwest route -- shorter, steeper and commonly known to be more difficult terrain. Learn more about the routes here: https://www.14ers.com/routelist.php?peak=Mt.+Massive. Tips for your first 14er hike: https://www.theoutbound.com/chema-domenech/14-tips-for-taking-on-your-first-14er.

Small ski resort that we think is Leadville’s best kept secret…. Ssssshhhh. It's owned by the city (Leadville), and is one of the oldest resorts in the state -- started in 1941. During WWII, it was used by the 10th Mountain Division for training. It is great for families with small children, beginners, and I love the advanced powder/tree terrain - I grew up skiing and racing, and I think it’s as good as bigger resorts (just less of it).
