The biggest town on Ærø, known for its remarkable maritime history. The Maritiem museum is excellent. It is the setting for the international bestseller, "We the Drowned".

Surprisingly good museum detailing Marstal's extraordinary success as a port and shipping centre. If you can read Carsten Jensen's novel " We the Drowned" as well. Little Marstal was Denmark's second port - so important that the British even attacked the fleet here during the Napoleonic wars.

Lovely old church near the pub. Like all Ærø chruches it has model ships hanging from the ceiling, a reminder of the days when most of Ærø's men were seafarers.
