A 45 minute drive from MDM and over the bridge from La Rochelle is Ile de Ré, dotted with quaint little seaside villages and beautiful beaches. Bicycles are the preferred mode of transport on Ile de Ré!

Situated in the stunning Marais Poitevin, Maillezais is a great starting point for exploring the waterways that crisscross the marais by boat or bike. Additionally there are the ruins of the old Abby to explore which is why we recommend Maillezais for visiting the Marais Poitevin however there are lots of beautiful little villages dotted throughout the area.
