We love to get out and enjoy northern Michigan. Here are some of my favorite places to hike, swim and explore!
There are about 7 miles of trails bring some bug spray and pack a snack. You will want to take a break on the boardwalk, along Grass River!

Awesome area to explore, with over one mile of Lake Michigan shoreline and Antrim Creek. We like to pack dinner and eat on the beach. Usually not crowded.

If you have four-wheel drive and like adventure, check out Whisky Creek. The road is a few miles long and dead-ends where Whisky Creek runs into Lake Michigan. The road out is rough and in the early summer will often have dips with a couple of feet of water. We only take our old jeep out here.

This is our favorite Lake Michigan beach. The beach is beautiful and there are plenty of Petoskey stones!

There is so much to do at Sleeping Bear! It was named as the "Most Beautiful Place in America" on Good Morning America. It is a little over an hour from the farm, but well worth the drive.

The swimming area is roped off and mostly sandy. There are also public bathrooms, basketball courts, volleyball, and a boat launch. Great place for a picnic.

From Charlevoix, it is 30 miles and you can get there by plane or boat. If you like a laid-back, quiet place for adventure, Beaver Island is the place to go.

Beautiful Lake Michigan park for picnics and swimming. This is also where the two track to Whiskey creek begins. To get to Whiskey creek from here, follow the dirt road north from the park.

There is a nice little trail that leads to a newly built dock that is designed for launching kayaks. Hawks, deer, turkey, mink and so many fish and turtles!

Coffee
All my favorite coffee spots!
Harwood gold has good coffee, but also excellent meat pies and maple syrup in more ways than you could ever imagine. Lots of samples and an awesome ambiance. The maple syrup all comes from their farm right in Charlevoix.

Awesome coffee, scones, and food! My favorite sweet coffee at Roast & Toast is the Almond Joy Mocha. They also have roasted coffee beans for sale. **Check the hours before heading over in the evening. They close relatively early

Fruit Orchards
We are close to Lake Michigan and this makes our area great for growing fruit. The farm is just a few minutes away from some great spots to pick fresh fruit or to purchase local, already picked fruit.
The King's are a wonderful family and are really good to their customers. They offer u-pick for tons of different fruit, they have cherry juice concentrate, cider, jam, and already picked fruit.

The Shooks family is great too! It is always enjoyable to go to their farm. U-pick cherries, beef and now this generation of Shooks farmers are selling their own wine!

We have been going to Friske's for many years. They have wonderful homemade pastries and doughnuts, fantastic food and of course great fruit. There is a nice gift shop and outside they have a play area for kids and some farm animals to visit. My girl's love to get doughnuts after school and feed the goats!

10743 US-31We have been going to Friske's for many years. They have wonderful homemade pastries and doughnuts, fantastic food and of course great fruit. There is a nice gift shop and outside they have a play area for kids and some farm animals to visit. My girl's love to get doughnuts after school and feed the goats!

Locally brewed beer and awesome food! Kid friendly too. Try the "White Pepper" sandwich and the spinach dip. So yummy!

If you are in Petoskey, this is the place to get pizza! It is take-out only, but there is a beautiful waterfront just a couple blocks away with picnic tables. They also offer a veteran's discount, so if you have served make sure you ask for the discount! **They were just voted as one of the top 25 pizza places for the entire state!

The prime rib on Saturday night is great! They also have smoked meats, ribs, broasted chicken, lots of hot side dishes and cold salads. When we head to Torch or Lake Michigan for an evening picnic, this is our stop for food!

We like to order pizza or Italian subs at Classic Pizza. You can walk here from the farm and they do have a spot to eat dinner outside.

This beautiful restaurant was originally a church! Everything that I have ordered here has been good. I really like their pizza and french onion soup. They often have music in the evenings too.

Awesome food! They are only open during the day, on weekdays. I love the Bay View Club and their huge brownies. On a nice day, you can eat outside on the deck overlooking the bay.

Excellent food! This is a family favorite for us. They have some great happy hour specials from 4-6 pm. A nice list of appetizers for just a few dollars each and good drink specials. We enjoy having dinner here, then going down the street to Kilwins. Right next to Kilwins, there is a great waterfront park.
