Below is a list of a few recommendations of things to do in the area. Please note its not in full detail and to find more details you will have to research more online. As a couple with children there are probably more things on this list for families than couples as that's where we spend most of our time! Hope something here helps with the planning of your visit to Motobu Peninsula.

This beach is lovely and safe for families with young children. You don't need to wear aqua shoes or protective clothing as the beach is well protected from box jellyfish. There are free toilets and showers on site as well as a restaurant and small souvenir shop

Ocean expo park and botanical center is great for plant lovers and for people with kids too who want to see beautiful flowers and plants throughout the year.

The aquarium is a fantastic place for anyone! You can get cheaper tickets if you visit after 4pm. The aquarium is located in expo park which has free admission and there are many free things to see like the dolphin shows, sea turtle area, manatee pool and a few fish tanks. There is an interesting big room at the end of the aquarium to spend time in which is also free admission. The Expo Park is big and has 2 lovely parks for children to play at. The netted park is particularly fun but be warned that it is closed on rainy days. The other park on the South side takes longer to walk to but is situated next to a little beach which you can’t swim at but can dip your feet into water, look for shells and see a beautiful view of The aqua blue ocean and Ie Island.

That's our place! If you want a mango farm tour then please don't hesitate to ask although we cant guarantee to make time especially during harvest season in July and August as our orders are a priority. There is only fruit in season which is from mid July to mid August.

A bit cheesy but the kids love it. There is also a fun ride in a pineapple cart which provides a tour of the facility and there are many tasters made from pineapple products.

In this area is a safe play area on a man made river section next to the dam for children to play in. Its such fun for both adults and kids. Concrete bum slides are safe enough to slide on into a shallow pool. Just 40 minutes by car north of Phumula Guest cottage

Here you can have a dolphin experience where you actually get to swim with dolphins (if you wish). Besides dolphins there are other family orientated things to do like marine sports and crafts which are ideal for parents with young children.

Besides just the aquarium, the expo park is HUGE and perfect for a whole day of memories and entertainment. Lots of free activities too for families like the dolphin show and seeing the Dugons, sea turtles, manatee and other sea creatures.

My favorite Dinner place
A fantastic local food place with homemade Food that is mostly Okinawa and Japanese style. Almost all the products are locally sourced. The hosts are an elderly couple and Mr Hoshi is really good with serving drinks and sources really good sake, beer and wines. We can highly recommended this restaurant but you need to make a reservation. We can call and make one for you if you don’t speak Japanese. Just ask us once you know when you would like to go. Open from 6:30 till late. Usually closed on a Thursday

There are many places in Motobu for soba but this is our favorite. The shop is located in the forest not far from our place. The noodles are homemade which is a unique fact and the broth delicious. The owners are friendly and kind.

a great place for a sunset dinner and family friendly resturant serving cafe. I have eaten more delicious pizza before but the view is worth the visit. Just note, it is an extremely popular place.

a very popular tourist spot that also is very serene and almost a step back in time. (depending on the number of tourists on the day!!!) A walk to the beach offers an amazing place for a sunset view.
