For an amazing view of Nidri and a chance to visit the resting place of William Derpfeld. This little church is at the end of the peninsula and looks out onto Nidri and the neighbouring islands. Make sure to check out the little cave at the back of the church where the picture of the Virgin Mary was found ‘ crying real tears’.

Local Beaches

Rent a pedalo or swim to the cave on the left side of the beach and further. Amazing water, crystal clear and blue!

Visit this beach to avoid busy crowds and paying for sun beds. This little oasis is a personal favourite for doing some beach yoga and meditation. Park your car and walk over the old stone bridge to get there. If you’re a fan on becoming one with nature, this is the place to be. Walk further along to the beach where there is a dedicated nudist area. Remember to respect the environment and take any rubbish you’ve got with you, after your visit.

Best place for freshly caught fish. Most taverna’s on the beach are owned by fishermen’s families, so you’re sure to get the best. Avoid the menu and ask for what they’re latest catch was.

Visit this place for some local specialities in meat and not only. What once used to be a yaya’s house, where she’d make you whatever she had available for a small fee has now turned into a taverna. Having said that, the produce has remained fresh. Ask for the well known ‘frigadeli’ and ‘exohiko’. Don’t forget your Greek salad and a portion of freshly cut chips.
