Sightseeing

Great hiking, swimming and bird-watching! First (if driving from Belmopan) entrance has a small Visitor's Center along with tour guides who would be happy to organize cave tubing for you! Useful tip: for the price of the entrance (very reasonable as it's the national park) you can explore the entrance of St. Herman's Cave on your own! Make sure you have good shoes (no flip-flops) and reliable flash lights! Second entrance is where the Blue Hole refreshing swimming spot is along with picnic tables and another tiny visitor's center. Small but beautiful and cozy national park!

Feel as if you are on safari at the best small zoo on Earth. Witness the animals of Belize you are not likely to find even in much bigger zoos. Tapirs, jaguars, toucans, howler monkeys, and so many more. Perfect for a day trip walking and exploring the many paved paths. Great for all ages. Features a very nice luncheon and souvenir shop.

Actun Tunichil Muknal “Cave of the Stone Sepulcher” or ATM Cave as it is locally known is located in the heart of the Belizean Rainforest. Just 20 mins drive from the Guesthouse if you choose Agua Viva Road. The ATM hosts a variety of skeletons, the most famous is the Crystal Maiden, ceramics and stone tools. This cave offers a unique, eerie experience as it was once used by the Ancient Maya. You will learn the history of this cave and the rituals that were conducted in the cave.

Small family owned business offering chocolate tours and lots of yummy snacks to buy. Conveniently located right on the Hummingbird Highway between Armenia Village and Blue Hole National Park. You can stop by to check what seasonal chocolate goodies they have or take a tour and learn about growing cacao and coffee with a lot interesting stories and jokes from Roger.

À ne pas manquer

The Friday's Farmer's market is a must!

If you are in Belmopan on a Friday morning, don't think twice - get to Blue Moon Farmer's Market (7 am to 1 pm across from Scotchie's restaurant on Hummingbird Highway). The best artisanal products, arts and crafts, organic fruit and veggies, fresh baked goods and even a massage booth! It's mainly for locals, so the prices are so much better compared to the Cayes or other touristic areas!

Best places for grocery shopping

Most of supermarkets in Belize are owned by Chinese families and open very convenient hours from 8 am to 9 pm every day of the week. The best supermarket "The Mall" is conveniently located on Hummingbird Highway next to Scotchie's restaurant. If you want more fresh fruit and veggies - there is a big market behind the bus station in Belmopan (it gets even bigger and more crowded on market days of Tuesdays and Fridays). It is open every Monday-Saturday from early morning through late afternoon. Decent street food stalls but be prepared for the crowd and noise:)
