Neighbourhoods

The perfect place to spend a few hours with children of all ages. Get off the train at London Bridge and cross the road to Borough Market, taking in the sights and smells! Then walk down to the water, and follow the bank along to the Tate Modern. There you'll pass the Millennium Bridge which you can cross to explore the City. If you go into the Tate Modern be sure to check out the Drawing Bar on the ground floor which is brilliant for budding artists of all ages. Keep walking along the South Bank and you'll soon get to the National Theatre. The shop and foyer are good to explore even if you don't have tickets to a show. Further along and you'll get to the Southbank Centre itself. One of London's best arts institutions, there are any number of exhibitions, concerts and family events happening every day of the year - take a look in advance if you'd like to check something out. There's usually a street food market in the back area. You can continue on to Westminster at the next bridge - or head home from there, via Waterloo East.
