If u are looking for a relax and a stunning view at same time this is my favorite only 1 hour drive to the east. U can add a red wine from the bar to enjoy it a little bit more!!

The Akureyrar church is the symbol of Akureyri. It is a Lutheran church and was disigned by architect Gudjon Samuelsson and concecrated in 1940. The central stained glass window above the altar formed a part of a set originatin gfrom England. The bas-reliefs on the nave balcony are by sculptor Asmundur Sveinsson and the baptismal font is a replica of a work by scultor Bertel Thorvaldsen.
The church is located in the town center. There's a tradition in Iceland to walk up the steps to the curch and counting the many steps.

The garden, therefore, is an excellent choice for those wishing to take a break from the stress of daily life, playing as they do, the role both of a peaceful public park and also a beautiful plant collection.

Numerous photographs and detailed text present a realistic and interesting account of pilots in their everyday activities. And where pictures and imagination end, concrete reality takes over. The museum contains many types of aircraft; for example, a plane of the same kind as the first aircraft in the possession of Loftleiðir Airline as well as Iceland's oldest ambulance aeroplane and the first glider built in Akureyri 1937.
Opening hours:
1. june - 30. september. Daily from 13-17 and by arrangement.
Winter: Open saturdays from 13:00 to 17:00 and by arrangement.

This is my all time favorite fish restaurant. Well it is located in Húsavík, one hour away driving. But worth the drive. I love fish and was so delight when it opened few years ago. U must try this one if u are more into fish.

Family friendly really tasty American restaurants. Mainly offer hamburgers and shakes. The kids can get an ipad while they are waiting for example.

In my opinion the best Thai cuisine in town. They offer fish, and vegetarian dishes along with meat.
