The Blowing Rock

The Blowing Rock, North Carolina's oldest travel attraction since 1933, is an immense cliff 4,000 feet above sea level overhanging Johns River Gorge 3,000 feet below. Beautiful short scenic walk with a garden waterfall, gardens, observation tower and unique gift shops. Open daily March - December and open weekends January - February, weather permitting.

Linville Falls

At the head of the beautiful Linville Valley on US 221, North Carolina's only caverns lie deep under Humpback Mountain. During the war between the states, deserters from both the Union and Confederate armies reportedly hid out in the caverns. Walk along an underground stream full of blind trout and peer into the "bottomless pool". This subterranean wonderland is open year-round (Weekends only Dec. - Feb.)

Tweetsie Railroad is a blast from the past! Enjoy a 3 mile adventure ride on our historic steam locomotive, country fair, rides, crafts and live entertainment. Open May - October.

Five hiking trails allow exploration of rare geology and plant communities in Mount Jefferson State Natural Area, including a child-friendly TRACK trail and a strenuous scramble along the mountain’s ridgeline. Overlooks offer vistas into neighboring states. Picnic grounds with shelter combine scenic views with cool summer temperatures and breezes.

E.B. Jeffress Park-The Cascades Trail

A highlight of any visit to the park is the stunning Cascade Falls that sits just a little over 1/2 a mile off the park via a beautiful loop trail. E.B. Jeffress Park is located at milepost 271.9 on the Blue Ridge Parkway just a few miles east of Deep Gap North Carolina. It is easily spotted from the Blue Ridge Parkway and it has a large parking area. It is a very open area with numerous picnic tables available. There are also restroom facilities onsite. E.B. Jeffress Park is only 30 minutes from Wilkesboro North Carolina or about 30-45 minutes from the North Carolina mountain towns of Boone, Banner Elk, or Blowing Rock.
