Set in a former home which has been preserved in time, you could spend a couple of hours here. The Panacea Society was a millenarian religious group in Bedford, England. Founded in 1919, it followed the teachings of the Devonshire prophetess Joanna Southcott, who died in 1814, and campaigned for Southcott's sealed box of prophecies to be opened according to her instructions. Favourite local walks

Cross the road and you’re here.. where the trees provide a canopy over the path. Where you can hear the birdsong, spot the butterflies, pick the blackberries or just enjoy the views as you meander down the path in the middle of the cornfields.

Renhold is a village location with one pub and shop/ post office. There are several houses which are listed due to their age and interest, plus All Saints Church. There are numerous footpaths to follow to allow you to explore the nature on your doorstep.

Walks around the lakes, water sports and a cafe, this is a 5 minute drive from our cottage. There’s several fishing swims, picnic areas and birdwatching hides. Beware of the time the carpark gates are locked though!

Displaying local history dating back to the dinosaurs! Free to enter and interesting for a morning exploring. It’s next to a great Italian restaurant too if you’ve time for lunch!
Learn more about Bedford, enjoy the fine art on display or brewing memorabilia from Charles Wells brewery. Easy to access. There’s interesting things for children and adults alike. I love the Victorian house part the best.
