This is a local family run diner that's great for breakfast/brunch! It's less than a 5 minute drive from our house just across the overpass.

If you're looking for plenty of Asian cuisine options, Kim's is your spot! We enjoy the sushi, teriyaki, and wok options. Can't go wrong with some wonton soup either!

If you're going north toward Denali or the Matanuska Glacier, this is a great place for brunch/lunch or dinner! We highly recommend their pulled pork sandwich.

You really can't go wrong with anything on their menu and it also is a rotating menu, so you always have 1 or 2 new things to try! We love the savory empanadas or the duck tacos for food. Drink recommendations are the fresa margarita (infused with jalapeño) or the Avispa (a delicious gin drink).

This is within a 20 minute drive of the house and you can spend tons of time birdwatching along the trail that circles a lake where plenty of birds call home.

Chugiak is quaint and a bit more rural than most of Anchorage. It is a small, friendly community. You'll encounter wildlife, and likely some neighborhood pups immediately around our house. This is an easy 35 minute drive just north of Anchorage.
