this is a great hiking park with a FREE suspension bridge. this is a great option for people who've heard of the Capilano Suspension Bridge ... but don't want the crowds or the price tag!!

a trip to Vancouver would not be complete without a day at Stanley Park. We highly recommend that you rent bikes on Denman street and ride around the Stanley Park Seawall.

(if you just want a woodland, suspension bridge experience - Lynn Canyon suspension bridge is free)

Skiing
There are three local ski hills in North Vancouver. Seymour is VERY close to our home and is fantastic for beginners or families. Grouse Mountain is famous for it's gondola ride and city views and also offers night skiing. Cypress is slightly further away, and it was host of several of the 2010 Winter olympic events.

Strachan and Black Mountain and Hollyburn Mountain and offers skiers and riders 600 acres of accessible terrain with a 2,010 ft. vertical and an annual snowfall of 244 inches. Serviced by six lifts, the terrain is 15% beginner, 35% intermediate, 35% advanced, 8% expert, and 7% freestyle.
There are beautiful views of the city from the mountain. open for night skiing.
Cypress also has Cross country ski trails.

Besides skiing and snowboarding, the area offers snowshoeing, tobogganing and ski jumping at the Olympic Park, a venue for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. The hub of Whistler is a compact, chalet-style pedestrian village at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
Summer activities abound with several wonderful lakes, fantastic street entertainment, beautiful hiking, shopping and a wide range of dining options.

City/town information
VIctoria is really more than a day trip unless you travel by small charter sea plane such as Harbour Air. If it is within your budget to fly over for the day, the journey is as much fun as the destination as the views of the gulf islands are fantastic by air. the other option for traveling to our Capitol city is by Ferry, which entails a 50 minute drive to the Tsawassen terminal and then a ferry ride which is 1 hour and 35 minutes. IF you decided to travel to VIctoria by ferry, we highly recommend that you make a reservation through BC ferries.
