Now Simes Cafe on Beach Road. Wonderful cakes and slices, gf and vegan options, good breakfast and lunch menu, eggs very fresh and free-range. Outside deck as well as cosy corners. NZ Rimu timbers throughout. Open 7 days and Fri and Sat nights for dinner. Bookings essential. Small menu but designed with foodies in mind and fresh produce. Always a gf option in all sections. Dessert is a must have.

Kaikoura Seal Colony

The views are amazing from the top of the walk from the seal colony. Quite a good climb up and allow 90 mins for the whole walk or you can double back for shorter time. Take some wind and sun protection. Better at high tide.

Mount Fyffe

The climb up to the hut is a great walk, then to the top of the walk is very scenic. Maps are available and there is a carpark. Times and distances are posted on the trail map. Quite sheltered, where not in exposed places, if weather is not good elsewhere, as you are in the bush.
