Creative cocktails and dimsum are served in this multi-floor, candlelit venue. The vibes are buzzy but tame- music affords talking and there won’t be dancing. Book online in advance to ensure your seat. I recommend the Academy bar up top.

Shopping

Now in its twelfth year, Cabbages and Frocks Market is among London’s fanciest. Held every Saturday afternoon (11am-5pm) in the quaint cobbled courtyard behind St Marylebone Parish Church, it's a fashionista fave which specialises in vintage clothes, handmade jewellery and eclectic designer goods, often at (relatively) affordable prices. If bargain-hunting leaves you parched, you can catch your breath on the courtyard’s benches over coffee and macarons – it’s that kind of market. Coupled with a leisurely stroll down Marylebone High Street (which it’s adjacent to at the Baker Street end), Cabbages and Frocks Market is an ideal way to sample the bijou London life. Nick Levine

Selfridges - probably the most popular shop in town - celebrated its centenary in 2009. With its concession boutiques, store-wide themed events and collections from the hottest new brands, it's a first port-of-call for stylish one-stop shopping, while useful floor plans make navigating the store easy-peasy. The basement is chock-full of hip home accessories and stylish but practical kitchen equipment (think Alessi, Le Creuset and Kitchenaid), while the ground floor boasts the Wonder Room - 19,000sq ft of luxury brands - and a well-stocked beauty hall, complete with its own Nails Inc manicure station. But most shoppers make a beeline for Selfridges' excellent fashion floors.

Founded by Belma Gaudio, Koibird is Marylebone Lane's colourful concept store, which rotates its stock every four months in order to reflect a theme or travel destination. Previous edits have drawn influence from the alps, the beach, California and, currently Korea. The boutique showcases emerging talent, including playfully feminine hair accessories by Lele Sadoughi and Instagram favourite, Sleeper pyjamas. I particularly love its enticing 'Pharmacy-K' curation of Korean skincare and beauty brands, many of which are exclusive to Koibird in the UK including Soohyang candles, JINsoon nail polishes and Beautiqlo cleansers.

Founded by father-and-son duo Charlie and Joe in 2009, Caseley Hayford is credited with pioneering a new genre of menswear in London, splicing tradition Savile Row tailoring with sportswear and subculture references. Womenswear followed in 2017, satisfying a thirst for contemporary, bespoke female tailoring in London. The brand opened its first standalone boutique in 2018 to a fanfare reception, impeccably designed by Charlie's wife, interior designer Sophie Ashby. Head here for the perfect collarless shirt, louche outerwear and made-to-measure contemporary suiting, working from a library of 3000 fabrics and cut with a signature dash of anarchy.

Founded in 1643, Cire Trudon is the oldest candle maker in the world. Chiltern Street boasts the only European bricks-and-mortar Cire Trudon shop outside of France, imbued with old-worldly Parisian charm. Handpick tapered candlesticks in a spectrum of hues and browse an enticing array of beautifully packaged home fragrance and perfumes including my personal favourite – the stately 'bust' candles, which reimagine notable French dignitaries and royals in scented wax.
