Food scene

Nearest pub, walking distance (though hearty and includes walking on main road). Good food, and great landlady. Gets busy on a Saturday night.

Lovely village pub, 200 yards from a local brewery. Amazing food, often with events.

Previously a pub, now run by our village distillery, Forest Gin. Shop is worth a visit, but I also recommend booking for a gin and tonic and maybe staying for dinner (from Lord of the Pies, a great pie shop down in Macclesfield). Access to walks to Shulingsloe, Three Shire Head, and Wildboarclough from here.

Only open outside at the moment, but amazing views looking down out of the Peak District and across the Cheshire Plains. Does guest foods.

A great pub, run by the same folks who have the Egerton Arms in Chelford. Wouldn't be my first choice, but always a good solid choice with good choice of food.

Great place to kick off a walk to Lud's Church or The Roaches. There is a cafe here (open air) which is open weekends (not in winter) and week days during the school summer holidays.

Sightseeing

Best ice cream EVER. There are some good walks from the farm, and also a petty zoo for the kids. Did I mention best ice cream EVER? There is also a cafe here.

The Cheshire Matterhorn. You can walk to the top directly from the farm, though you can also access via the Clough Road car park or Standing Stone car park in the village. On a clear day, views to Wales and across the Cheshire Plains. Great way to work up an appetite.

Spooky gritstone cavern, used as a non-conformist church in the 18th century. Well worth a visit - lovely hike through woodlands and along the river Dane. Strongly recommend taking a torch and a good pair of waterproof walking boots.

Beautiful views, good climbing (including proper rock climbing, if that's your thing), and travel through three counties in just a few miles.

This is a private woods, accessible with the owners permission from the farm. There is a great gritstone rock outcrop and also a perfect view of Shutlingsloe. You can access Blaze Farm and the Rose and Crown via Heild Woods (NB there is a VERY steep hill and accessing both will involve walking on the A54 Buxton Road).
