It's a restaurant that's also a bakery and coffee shop. They serve huge breakfasts, but get there early because the place fills up soon after 9am. If you don't feel like waiting, just grab some pastries and bring them home to eat on the porch. The desserts are nothing special, but the morning pastries, and the breads, are very good.

If you don't feel like waiting, just grab some pastries and bring them home to eat on the porch. The desserts are nothing special, but the morning pastries, and the breads, are very good.
It is tiny, and run by the owner, who takes great delight in telling you about the specials and helping you to find what you will enjoy. Their gnocchi are particularly good, but any of the lunch specials are likely to delight.

Their baristas are exceptional, and they make a truly wonderful Valrhona (dark chocolate) mocha that inspired me to begin making my own customized dark & milk chocolate mochas at home. And, they have free Wif and comfortable seating, IF you get space on the padded bench around the outside of the room.

Although the environment is a little bit sterile, the burgers are fast, and the perfect size (and price, at $4.25 for the cheeseburger with chevre!) for those with a smaller appetite. Those who want more can just get a second burger, or go with an order of their truffle-infused fries- yum!

Bamboo serves only sustainable and extremely high quality sushi. You will pay for it, but you will also be offered the chance to eat lovely local mushrooms and other unique dishes prepared with care by master chefs. Worth the price!

Their pies have impressed reviewers from here and everywhere- the New York Times did a write-up that may single handedly have caused Portland's population to grow by a significant margin. Ask for your pie warmed- it's just better that way. And, they serve mixed drinks, as well as beer and wine and coffee- what else do you need?
